Just a quick note to be careful with this “must do 5 filters” that you see so often online.
IP filters do just that, filter an IP. Is it the right one though? To check your IP simply type into google “What is my IP” and you’ll get a message like 188.8.131.52.
You can exclude that number but unless you are on what is known as a static IP line it’ll change on you and you’ll start getting your own traffic again!
- IPs changing on dynamic lines. Nothing you can do unless you buy a static line
- Internal changes to intranet IPs without warning.
For intranets simply setup an Analytics Alert to let you know if traffic falls dramatically that week. if you do it day to day you’ll constantly be told at the weekend there is a problem.
